We have 6 limited edition ballpint pens made from spalted sycamore sourced from within Tulgey Woods Sanctuary CIC.
The pens have been beautifully crafted by David Ratcliffe from Devon Pens. David runs his workshop in Ivybridge, Devon, UK.
The pens features Gunmetal coloured fittings which perfectly compliment the wood.
This is a beautiful handmade quality pen, the comfortable shape in the hand is complemented by the wonderful natural feel and warmth of the wood with a traditional wax finish.
More about Devon Pens
"I love using this pen. The ink flows nicely and it's comfortable to hold, and I love that it's made from locally sauced Tulgey sycamore wood. By buying a pen you are supporting the wonderful work they do in the community, bringing people together and providing education on environmental and biodiversity concerns." Kat Bray.
Devon pens
"I started wood turning after I inherited a Lathe from my Great Uncle. I still now, many years later, use some of the same tools and often think back to him using them.
I love making pens, they are each so individual and you never know quite what you will find inside each piece of wood. A wooden pen is unlike any other pen the feel in your hand is warm and the wood will gain a unique patina as you use it. The wooden pens I make all make use of standard refills so no more broken or empty plastic pens going to landfill.
Living on the edge of Dartmoor has inspired me and I try to source as much local wood as possible. This includes many National trust sites and other local properties. I also now use as many woods with a story as possible. This can be the location the tree grew or from a historical source be that a ship, rail carriage or even a cannon.
Add engraving on pen and you make it even more personal and easily identifiable as your pen.
I was lucky enough to be invited to make the pens for the leaders table at the G7 summit in Cornwall. Each of the leaders attending had a presentation box with a fountain pen and ink included. The pens were made from a recycled oak finger board from the South West Coast path."
