Nettle Cordage with Tony Hickey

As part of our Tulgey Woods Open Day we'll be holding a nettle cordage session. The session will be run by Tony Hickey, one of the directors of Wise Roots CIC. Tony will take you on a walk to gather nettles and then you'll gather in the Tippy Park Community Orchard to learn the art of nettle cordage. This is a family friendly event and well behaved dogs are also welcome.

There will also be a family friendly clay making session with Lizzie from Seawyld.

In the woodland compound there will be sales of arts, crafts and houseplants. The meeting point is the compound at Tulgey Woods, PL3 5DX, you'll see the Tulgey Woods gates at the end of the turning circle on Compton Vale adjacent to the entrance to Trefusis Park. We do ask visitors to avoid using petrol/diesel vehicles to travel to site wherever possible. We have a secure cycle compound (and electric charging point) for anyone arriving by bicycle.

Please note that we have no toilets on site but you can access the woods to find a private space if needed!

There will be free light refreshments so please let us know of any dietary requirements. This session is funded by the National Lottery Awards for All but donations on the day will also be greatly received as our funding runs out in January and we have ongoing maintenance costs to cover. This is a free event for local people.
